Fire lookout playhouse

November 2016 – Billings, MT

While living in Billings, Montana and working for a concrete company, I was preparing to move back to Kalispell when my boss asked me to build a custom playhouse for his children. His vision was inspired by a classic Montana fire lookout — complete with an observatory-style wraparound deck.

I took on the full design, planning, and construction of the project, with some help from a few concrete crew members. The result was a bright green, one-of-a-kind playhouse with elevated views and sturdy craftsmanship.

The final touch? Watching my boss transport this “mini fire lookout” down the road to his home with a front-end loader — definitely a memorable sendoff from Billings.
