Trailer House Superstructure

February 2018 – Whitefish, MT

My grandfather’s trailer home had fallen into serious disrepair — the aluminum roof had inverted over time, collecting water with every rainfall and snowfall. With limited mobility and resources, his only solution was to seal the leaks with roofing tar.

Recognizing the need for a lasting fix, I took action. Drawing on my experience in concrete and framing, I designed a freestanding superstructure using CAD software. The structure not only protected the trailer from further damage, but was engineered with future use in mind — capable of serving as a carport or eventually being enclosed as a garage once the trailer is removed.

The superstructure still stands today and ultimately saved his home from collapse.
